London Buses route 89

London Buses route 89 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Slade Green station and Lewisham bus station, it is operated by London Central.
==History==
In 1939, the route from Lewisham ''Rennell Street'', via the existing route through Blackheath and Shooters Hill, and terminated at The Guy Earl Of Warwick, Welling. The route ran out of Catford garage at this time. In 1963, the route was extended from Welling, to Eltham ''Well Hall Station'' via Bexleyheath, Bexley, Blackfen and Eltham High Street (replacing the trolleybus replacement route 195). It was at this time that Bexleyheath garage began operating some of the routes, sharing them with New Cross garage.
On 22 April 1978 the route was altered to operate from Slade Green station to Lewisham bus station. At this stage it was converted to one man operation with the AEC Routemasters replaced by Daimler Fleetlines. These were replaced by Leyland Titans on 8 March 1983 which in turn were replaced by Leyland Olympians on 24 May 1986.
On 5 February 2000 the route was converted to low floor with Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs. On 28 June 2002 night route N89 was introduced between Trafalgar Square and Erith.
Upon being re-tendered, route 89 was retained by London Central with new Alexander Dennis Enviro400s.〔(The tender routes of success ) ''BusTalk'' (Go-Ahead London) issue 9 April 2011〕
